Whole grains are the best choice for your baby’s food. The healthiest and amazing grains packed with nutrition and fiber are good to be included in your baby’s daily diet.

Finger millet/Ragi and Wheat:

How to Make Finger millet/ragi and wheat Powder?

Clean wash Finger millet/ragi and whole wheat and allow to dry overnight.
heat the grains in a pan for 8 to 10 mins, do not burn the grains.
after cool down ground the grains in a food processor to make a fine powder.
store them in a dry container.

How to make Homemade Ragi wheat Baby porridge?

In a clean vessel add a spoon full of ragi-wheat powder and 1/4th cup water. Mix them well to avoid lumps.
Add rock sugar/rock candy or jaggery and boil the mixture for 10 mins till it turns semi solid lump free porridge. Add more of water/milk while boiling if required.
Feed the grain porridge to your baby while warm.

Whole Wheat and Apple:

How to Make Homemade Instant Whole wheat - Apple Baby Porridge?

Clean wash wheat grains and dry them in sunlight or by air where you have dry roast the grains without burning.
When the grains are completely dry, powder them and store in a dry container.
Add 1 to 2 spoons of whole wheat powder to a clean container, add water and boil for 5 to 10 minutes till it turns to be semisolid.
Peel a fresh apple and make a smooth puree of it. Add 3 to 4 spoons of fresh apple puree to the boiled and stir well. You can even add apple slices if the baby likes chewing.
The whole wheat porridge with apple flavor is definite to be your baby’s favorite and healthy staple too.

Green gram and Corn:

Clean wash green gram and corn, allow for drying without any moist remains.
Heat the grains till you smell the flavor of grains without burning.
After the grains have attained room temperature, fine powder them in a food processor.
Store them a dry container.

In a clean vessel add a spoon full of green gram-corn powder and 1/4th cup water. Mix them well to form a clear solution.
Add rock sugar/rock candy or jaggery and boil the mixture to attain the semi solid lump free porridge.
Feed the porridge while warm.

Oats:

Use thin gluten free oats at the start. Grind them to fine powder and store them in a dry jar.

In a clean vessel add water and oats powder, stir them to dissolve.
Boil in low flame to form a smooth paste. Add water/milk if required.
Add any sweeting agent jaggery or rock candy.

Rice: 

Rice is one of the safest and non-allergic first food for babies. At the beginning until teething cooked rice may be difficult for swallowing. In such case you will have to adopt the powder and porridge method.

How to make Homemade Rice Powder?

Clean wash rice and dry them in sunlight. I used the ordinary white rice as a start, you can even make use of parboiled rice.
When the rice flakes go crisp, powder them to fine and store in a moist free air tight container.

How to make Instant Rice Baby Porridge?  

Just add 1 or 2 spoons of rice powder to water and boil for 10 minutes.
If your baby does not take it as it is, add jaggery or salt according to their choice.
